This module provides comprehensive knowledge on managing the risks associated with crystalline silica in the workplace. It covers the nature of crystalline silica, how it's generated, the health risks, and the regulatory framework governing safe handling in Australia. 

You will gain the understanding needed to assess exposure and implement effective controls to support workplace safety.


Learning Outcomes

Understand:
- crystalline silica and materials that contain it
- the health risks associated with silica dust exposure (signs and symptoms)
- WHS duties and responsibilities related to silica risk
- how to determine if work involves processing of crystalline silica substances
- high-risk activities and how to assess exposure risks
- control measures for managing exposure to respirable crystalline silica
- the importance of training, air and health monitoring in the workplace
- the need for continuous safety through regular reviews and worker involvement.
