This introductory module gives you entry-level knowledge and understanding of Mass and Dimension requirements and restrictions.
It guides you through how Mass and Dimensions are measured and the exceptions and limits of specific vehicle and trailer types.
You will also learn why Mass and Dimension limits are required and who is responsible for ensuring a vehicle's safety.
Learning Outcomes:
- describe what General Mass and Dimension limits are, why they are necessary, and what happens if truck owners fail to comply
- describe dimension requirements for heavy vehicles and specific trailer types, including limits the limits for length, height and width
- name the Law and Regulation governing mass and dimension limits for heavy vehicles in Australia and how to report breaches
- describe the purpose of measurement adjustment and how it applies when a heavy vehicle is being weighed for compliance purposes
- describe mass exceptions and the categories available under the Heavy Vehicle National Law, including Concessional Mass Limits, higher mass limits, and a One-Tonne Tri-axle Mass Transfer Allowance.
